Locker Room Talk: Athlete of the Month for December 2017, Lucas Michaud

Position: Center/Right Wing

Shoots: Right

Team: Islanders

Height: 5’11

Weight: 190

This season (2017-2018), Lucas Michaud has had at least one point per game so far while on the elite club hockey team, the Islanders. His grit, strong work ethic, and competitive nature have allowed for him to be a leading scorer on his club teams and a great prospect for college hockey programs nationwide.

It is said that “Michaud has the ability to produce offensively, in part due to his work ethic and physical prowess. The South Portland, Maine native should get a shot in Atlantic Hockey or to be a recruited walk-on in Hockey East or ECAC.”(SB Nation) and that “Michaud isn’t a flashy player, but he does a lot of things nicely away from the puck and away from the scoring areas. He’s rugged and strong on his skates. He wins a lot of battles along the boards and is difficult to knock off the puck. He gets shots off quickly and has a fairly accurate shot, but he projects as more of a grinder at the professional level. He’s a player that would have to work hard along the boards, play gritty, and bring energy to have a place in the pro game.” (SB Nation)
